Creating a Q&A Community with Vanilla

If the objective of your community is to enable social customer support, then setting up Q&A in Vanilla is a must. Here's an overview of Vanilla's Q&A feature.

Allow users to create a question-type discussion.

Questions are tagged in the discussion view.
Questions are tagged to show status

Users are notified their questions have been answered.
Notifications let users know that questions are now answered

Users can indicate if a reply answers the question or not.
Mark the question as answered

Accepted answers are displayed at the top of the thread. Rejected or unmarked replies will be displayed below. Best Answers can be styled with CSS to stand out.

Users who answer questions are rewarded with Badges and earn reputation points.

Setting this up is very easy. All you have to do is turn on the Q&A plugin. That's it!

To change the styling of the accepted answers, you can edit the CSS with something like this:

background: transparent;

ul.AcceptedAnswers {
border: solid thick blue;
background-color: #eeeeee;
border-radius: 15px;
-webkit-border-radius: 15px;
-moz-border-radius: 15px;
