4 Great Online Communities to Make You Feel Connected

Face to face interactions are avoided and people aren’t getting out. But how does this affect social beings, like ourselves? Well, for less social beings, like myself, I haven’t felt impacted really at all. But I do know that there’s a ton of people out there who are very social and need to have interactions.

Then I got thinking—I’m probably always socialled-out because I spend so much of my free time interacting online. In communities of all sorts. Talking, working with others, strategizing and having a good time.

I like to think of myself as very actively involved in the Overwatch Community. I spend a lot of time making connections with others players, forming groups, playing competitive with others and also following the Overwatch League religiously (go Defiant!).

What I’m trying to say is that communities help keep people connected, so if you’re feeling isolated during this trying time, I’ve got a few suggestions for you that’ll keep you involved and connected with other like minded individuals. You may even find yourself making a few new friends along the way! Here are some great communities that you can join:

  • The Overwatch Community: Be sure to download the game and get connected with others. The game allows you to great groups and search for teammates, which is a great way to meet new people and work together to win! While I’m admittedly biased here, be sure you know how to use the “block” and “avoid teammate” function, as Overwatch is notorious for its toxic culture, but I’d still recommend checking it out, since the toxic members only make up a sliver of this amazing community.

  • The Animal Crossing Community: Okay, so as I’m sure some of you know, the much anticipated released of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to be released in just a few short days. Animal crossing is one of the best games for a laid back experience, and the Animal Crossing Community is a lively place that posts opportiunties for players to get involved in virtual events.

  • The Minecraft Community: As one of the best games of all time, you should look into getting this game and joining the community. You can meet new people who share the same creative ideas as you, and work together to build something amazing. You can open a new realm with your friends and connect voice chat so that you’re in a virtual hangout, where you can explore, create and embark on new adventures.

  • The King Community: This is a community that I recommend you join if you’re into mobile games. I guarantee that you’ve played Candy Crush before—it’s one of the most popular mobile games of all time. Although the game itself isn’t multiplayer like the others ones listed here, the Candy Crush Saga does have a “play with friends” feature that allows you to compare your progress with your friends, which is pretty cool. The community itself is a great place for collaboration and making connections with like minded individuals.

These are just a few suggestions for games with active communities that you can join and get yourself involved. THESE are the types of games that you should look into because their communities are booming, active and exciting, and the social nature of these games allow you to feel involved.

But hey, what are your thoughts? What’s your favourite community to feel connected during this time? Share in the comments below! 🙂
