[Product] Scaling and Securing Vanilla with Cloudflare

What does this mean for Vanilla customers?

Dramatically improved DDoS protection

Cloudflare’s network capacity is 15x bigger than the largest DDoS attack ever recorded. With 15 Tbps of capacity, it can can handle any modern distributed attack, including those targeting DNS infrastructure.

Comprehensive Web Application Firewall system

Cloudflare’s enterprise-class web application firewall (WAF) adds an additional layer of protection to your Vanilla instance, on top of the software controls already in place. This makes your site less vulnerable to common vulnerabilities like SQL injection attacks, cross-site scripting, and cross-site forgery requests.

Global CDN and web optimization for increased performance

Cloudflare caches frequently-accessed static assets like CSS, Javascript, and images in all of its 151 globally distributed data centers. This means when you or one of your end users accesses content on Vanilla, it is likely being served from somewhere nearby, resulting in a faster load time.

Centralized SSL certificate management

Vanilla has lead the industry in offering HTTPS on all sites by default, on all plan levels, from day one. We’re now happy to announce that through Cloudflare we are able to take care of SSL for Custom Domains as well, eliminating the complex and often time-consuming task of ordering and managing your own custom SSL certificate.

Ultimately this translates into a faster and safer experience for you, our customers.
