How To Modify Your Reaction Settings

To make changes click “Advanced Settings” when you are on the reactions tab as seen below:

advanced_settings

When you click “advanced settings” you will see the below menu.

Reaction_Settings

The first setting allows you to change how the reactions to a post are displayed to your community. Vanilla Forums offers you three choices in the way reactions are displayed:

  • In a pop-up: When a user mouses over a reaction, they can see who made the reaction.

  • As Avatars:  The Avatar of the person who made the reaction will have a small thumbnail showing which reaction they had.

  • Don’t show: This will keep the reactions made anonymous.

Please note : If you are missing reactions on your site, please make sure one of the above settings is enabled before you contact support.

There are some other settings you can modify in advanced settings, these include:

  • “Best of” page is constructed: Items can be shown as tiles or as a list.

  • How comments are sorted in your community:  You can sort by date or by score. We suggest you sort by data.

  • Vanilla Embedded Comments: If you choose you can order embedded comments by reaction to surface just the best comments. Users can then head into the community to see the full discussion.
