Connecting Vanilla to 2,000+ Apps with Zapier

There are dozens of tools that power your business across all departments. As you adopt more of these tools, having these disparate applications to talk to one another and share information is central  to automating workflows and ultimately increasing productivity. However, thinking about integrations can be intimidating—it implies you need development resources, time and money, which a lot of the time, is difficult to acquire.

That’s why the team here is super excited that Vanilla is now live on the Zapier App Directory! For those who are unfamiliar with Zapier, they’re a service that allows you to connect two apps with no coding experience needed! Using a very simple step by step interface, you can select the two applications that you want to connect and create what is called a Zap. Zaps essentially are a trigger from one system that causes an action in another. And with over 2000+ Apps to choose from, the integration possibilities are endless. 

Zapier will be useful for Vanilla customers who want to use their community to automate workflows or share data with other systems without having to engage in that complicated, development intensive process. Some great examples of Zaps we’re excited to see our customers using include: 

Build Email Campaigns with Vanilla + HubSpot 

HubSpot is widely used for marketing and customer relationship management (CRM). These types of tools allow users to maintain a list of all their customers and prospects to then use for automated email marketing. When users join your community, you may also want to put them in your CRM so that you can promote your products/services and even community updates. With this simple Zap, when a new user is added in Vanilla, a contact is created in HubSpot.

At that point, HubSpot can do it’s email marketing magic and send that user an email, welcoming them to the community! This is just one of the ways that Zapier can have a lot of impact with very little setup required.

Stay on top of all Discussions with Vanilla + Slack 

Slack is another popular integration point with communities. If you use messaging tools such as Slack to communicate with your team, and want them to stay in the loop on what’s going on in the community, it can be very convenient to receive notifications in Slack when a new discussion or idea is posted, or even if a new member joins! That way, if any action is required, then it can be taken right away.
