BlogWorld Day 3
Day 3 –
I had to drop by the status.net booth. They are both Vanilla users and from Montreal. These guys were rocking it out with the most creative non-swag promo I’d seen yet, hands down: Bring any old tee or a tee you received from other exhibitors and they would screen print the status.net logo on it for you right at the booth, AWESOME!
Great Idea! I should get a custom Vanilla rubber stamp and carry it with me everywhere I go …
I also checked in at the Rackspace Cloud booth, after all we use them at Vanilla and we have tremendous gratitude and respect for these guys. We’ve been hosted on Rackspace in one form or another for over three years. VanillaForums.com is also featured as a recommended forum tool hosted on The Rackspace Cloud. After talking with the guys for a while, we are hoping to put together a video for their Customer Stories category on the Rackspace blog.
That afternoon was quite busy with one demo or discussion after another. I was fortunate enough to sit down with some really interesting organizations: CoTweet, Lunch.com, Social Media Reach, Demand Media, Infolinks, Tableau Software, Man of the House, lijit, and the Social Media Club (I apologize if I am leaving anyone out).
Later that night we were invited to a VIP party at the Luxor Hotel and Casino hosted by Luxor Social Rewards. In order to attend you had to accidentally come across a tweet with a link to a plancast post. Then you needed to fill out a bunch of info on the Luxor Rewards site and wait for an email with further instructions. This email was classic, see below:
Venue: The Super Suite at Luxor Las Vegas
How to attend: Meet the keyholder between 6 & 7 p.m. at the
East Tower – Casino Level Elevator and mention “Beam”
It reminded me of the keymaster and gate keeper from Ghostbusters, priceless … When we arrived at the elevators the “keyholder” was waiting in a zoot suit with a set of giant skeleton keys. We said the magic word “beam”and he directed us to the penthouse suite.
This place was James bond swank, a 1000 sq/ ft of adult playground with open bar, food, pool tables, a gym in the bathroom, 50 inch flat screen in every room and a magnificent view of the strip.
It was the perfect end to BlogWorld.
The following day it was back to Montreal. We spent our last few hours at the casino and eventually made our way back to the airport in style.
I hope to be back next year!
